I must post a rave about eBridalSuperstore.com. I ordered my wedding dress from there and it just arrived. Here's the lowdown:
In March I visited two local bridal shops in the Baltimore area to try on an Alfred Angelo dress that I had my heart set on. One shop quoted $700 for the dress and the other quoted $850. They both said that once I ordered it, it would take four to six months for the dress to arrive.
I started shopping for the same dress online and found it at a much lower price on eBay and some online bridal shops. I settled on eBridalSuperstore.com which had the lowest price and shipping rate, and the best reviews from what I could find on the web. I ordered the dress on April 3rd. I paid $419 for the dress plus $12 shipping. The website has a shipping status feature, and it estimated that the dress would arrive in July.
Exactly three weeks later, the dress arrived via UPS! I was amazed! It looks great, in perfect condition. It is the correct color and size, with the Alfred Angelo tags and optional straps. Now I just need to take it for a fitting and get alterations done if needed.
So I was very happy with the low price and quick service that I got from eBridalSuperstore.com. They are like a bridal shop in that they order the dress for you straight from the manufacturer. But since they don't have the overhead costs of a physical store, they can offer the dress at a lower price.
I must admit that I picked a popular color and style for this dress, so Alfred Angelo probably has a lot of them made already, and that's why I got it so quick. It might usually take three or four months for a dress that needs to be made per order. But anyway I just wanted to pass on the recommendation. I took a leap of faith, buying the dress online. It paid off!

ReplyDeleteHmmmm, I was trying to be discreet because I don't want certain people seeing the dress before the big day. But then my fiance has already seen it, so I guess it doesn't matter at this point!
ReplyDeleteTo see the dress, go to www.alfredangelo.com. Look for style #1516. (I believe it's in the "Dream in Color" section.) The colors of my dress are Ivory & Claret (a deep red color). The wedding is in December, so there will be a somewhat Christmas-y color scheme overall. (Red, white, ivory, gold, & green.)
I've also heard that red is a traditional color in Chinese weddings. My fiance's family is from Taiwan, so it seems like a nice fit to wear some red in my dress. :)
okay, here's what's funny about this -- when I clicked on the link to the bridal store -- that dress is right on the first page as a featured dress, with the dark red , even! I thought it was SO pretty!! I didn't even see who made it.

Wow, Anonymous, you seem a little bitter. Sorry some people don't have the dough to pay some huge price for a wedding dress. You must work in a bridal shop. Maybe if you worked harder at pleasing your customers they would be more likely to buy a dress from you. There are people who are willing to pay a little more for good service. No one is required to buy from someone just because they helped them. And no one was "pretending" to be a customer. She was a customer, just not to that shop. Every bride shops around before they make their decision. Are they all decietful because they didn't buy a gown from every shop they tried one on at?

ReplyDeleteI was a little nervous about ordering dresses online and I wish I would have trusted my instinct. I brought 5 bridesmaid dresses from ebridal superstore and 3 of the 5 dresses were 2 sizes too small. I did my research prior to placing the order by reading reviews and calling them prior to placing order. I even had my girls go to a bridal salon to try the EXACT dress (style number and material) on to get the size to order. When they came in 3 of them were 2 sizes too small. At first I thought they must have been a manufacturing error. So I sent them back to ebridal superstore and they were no help at all! I asked to speak with the manager several times over a 2 week period and she either "just walked out" or was "out of town". I was forced to buy another dress and put a rush on it to get it in time. Ebridal did not offer any discounts to help with the extra cost. I had to pay $120 for the dress plus $45 dollars for the rush. The other 2 girls add to get the dress let out and the alternations were $100/dress (in Michigan). I would not recommend them to anyone. It has been the biggest mistake I have made and I have spent way more money then if I went to a bridal salon. Horrible customer service and sizes must run small.
ReplyDeleteWow that anonymous person is the one who is white trash, not someone who found something they loved for less money and did it online. I am not white trash and I was possibly thinking about doing the same thing because I have fallen in love with an Alfred Angelo dress #758 I just have to get to a store to try it on and see if it looks good, but at the designer website all it says is that the dress is under $1399 but above $999, where as on ebridal it sells for about $650 before shipping. Thanks so much for your review, I was weary because I've found a few reviews about other sites selling cheap designer dresses but they are knockoffs and come from china. Glad to hear that the dress you dreamed of came at a price you could afford. I know that you will have a happy and healthy as well as financially secure married life because you know how to stick to your budgets. Your wedding sounds like it will be absolutely amazing, and I hope it is everything you dreamed of.

ReplyDeleteYa, that copy pasted review is probably from an owner of a over priced bridal boutique. You know, I've tried to find profiles on people that posted reviews, both good and bad, and honestly.. I've found no info to prove who is real and who isn't. I'm going to take my chances and order the cheapest bridesmaid gown I can and see how it comes in. When I do this.. Give me a few weeks, I'm sure I'll have word by then.
